Seeing someone board a private plane usually leads the average person to believe it is only for celebrities or other extremely wealthy people. However, this is not always the case. Private jet travel has grown over the years, becoming more accessible to the average person for various reasons, including cost and benefits. Flying on a commercial flight does not appeal to everyone, and flying on a commercial airline has become more difficult for some than ever before. Private flights provide an option for those who prefer more privacy and luxury than most major airports and airlines provide. Flying privately provides comfort, privacy, flexibility, and convenience you will not find anywhere else. However, another added benefit is that it opens up travel possibilities. By that we mean you can visit more destinations. Traveling via private jet allows you to see anywhere in the world that has a runway. This got us thinking. What are some of the unique places that we perhaps don’t necessarily think of visiting, possibly due to accessibility?
Spotted Lake, Canada
The Spotted Lake in Canada has long been revered by the indigenous Okanagan people, and it’s easy to see why. In the summer, the lake’s water evaporates, leaving behind small mineral pools that vary in color from one another. When viewing the unique lake on Highway 3 northwest of the small town of Osoyoos, visitors to the area are asked not to trespass on tribal land.
Lonar Lake, India
Don’t worry; they’re not all lakes! A meteorite slammed into the earth nearly 50,000 years ago in the Indian state of Maharashtra. This left behind a massive crater 2km across and 170m deep (the world’s third-largest). According to scientists, it is the world’s only hypervelocity natural-impact crater in basaltic rock. In a nutshell, it’s as peaceful and relaxing as you could hope for, with a shallow green lake and wilderness all around. The lake water is said to be alkaline and to have skin-healing properties. Scientists believe the meteorite is still embedded about 600m below the crater’s south-eastern rim.
Puglia, Italy’s fashionable boot heel, has a wonderfully distinct allure derived from its rural landscape and a patchwork past influenced by Norman, Spanish, Greek, and Byzantine civilizations. The region is quickly challenging Tuscany for the gourmet crown, providing a glimpse into authentic Italian traditions and values. Because of its miles of pristine coastline and verdant landscapes of olive groves and vineyards, this region produces some of the country’s best, often undiscovered wines and olive oils. Cucina Povera, a stripped-down, authentic style of Italian cooking centered on simple, fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods, is famous in Puglia.
Tromso, located in the Arctic Circle, is one of the most northern cities and an excellent base for exploring this dramatic region of Norway. Plan your trips to coincide with the midnight sun and avoid the winter months, which are completely dark for two months. When you arrive, try your hand at swimming in the Arctic Sea. Afterward, head out of town to see some sights, watch the northern lights, and explore even more of this truly unique region.
Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Okay, this isn’t an uncommon destination, but it’s not a weekend away. The Great Barrier Reef is, without a doubt, one of the best vacation destinations for anyone looking to see one of nature’s most incredible wonders. The reef spans 2,300 kilometers and is so massive that it can be seen from space! Tourists will be able to marvel at the incredible sight of rare marine animals and plants interacting harmoniously. In addition, you can dive or snorkel in the area to get up close and personal with the local flora and fauna.
Travel teaches us invaluable lessons that we would never learn in school. It broadens our perspective. It encourages us to develop our talents and treat others with respect. And these are the locations, in no particular order, where the magic will take place. Some can be experienced in luxury, while others are only for the most daring souls. However, each one has the potential to be the best trip you’ve ever taken.
